Google Shopping Game Show

“Can You Gift It?”

Can You Gift It?

In the US, the holiday season is the largest shopping moment of the year, with shoppers spending nearly $1Trillion USD.  While this should be a season filled with celebrating and giving, shopping for gifts leaves people feeling overwhelmed - too many options and too little time.

Instead of pushing more “buy buy buy” ads, we set out to entertain audiences by creating an original game show for Google Shopping called “Can You Gift It?” featuring celebrity duos (known for their friendly rivalries and cultural caché) to compete and shop for the best gifts at the best prices. The game was developed with Google Shopping at the center, using the Deals page interface, Shopping filters, and Search trends as the game mechanics.

Our host Jimmy Kimmel, the iconic comedian, talk show and game show host, encouraged playful competition through rounds of game play. Each contestant took their turn, selecting a gift from the game board that featured the most searched gifts this season, and then challenged to answer trivia questions based on real Google Searches, with some comedic twists.

This series of five minute long mini-sodes seamlessly integrated Google Shopping, makes deal-finding both entertaining and effortless. By blending humor, cultural relevance, and Google Shopping functionality, the campaign resonating with audiences looking for simplicity and joy in their holiday shopping experience.
